Busy days

Good afternoon.
It hasn't started yet but July will get increasingly busy for us. We have booked shipping for our Dorrit/Scout/Tiller/Jib/Tiger on the 16th of July. She is going to fly to Copenhagen where Ulrika is picking her up. She is sleeping under my chair as I write this. I think we need to go to Camp David with Martti Ahtisaari to sort out the name issue.
This is from yesterday. The kitchen floor is a favourite to sleep on.

Antonia is having a preschool play with miss X who has such a nice gentle personality. She is mostly walking around sniffing at things and chewing the odd shoe. She is sleeping until 6 am but then she has generally been to the lavatory on the kitchen floor. I estimate her food consumption to 150-200g/day. I have not managed to get hold of the experts regarding what food consumption to expect when they have moved to a new home.

I can't resist posting this beautiful Swan that I spotted today at Berthon's Marina. She was being remeasured to get a higher handicap for Fastnet Race which starts just after Cowes week. She is being weighed here with the help of a mobile crane. She was 24.3 metric tons. The crew wanted her to be over 23.0 tons so the exercise was successful.

Lazy bones

Good evening.

I am enjoying a Reubenesque yet firm Shiraz while making some garlic bread on special request from the children.

Look what nice company I have. I don't have to cook alone anymore.

Antonia and Walter said goodbye to Forester's Guide before going to school this morning. I have had feedback from Berkshire where she went. She reached her home safely and she has started exploring the garden. She has met the other pets in the house and it seems to be working well.
Lazy bones.
Tonight I am going to write some emails to get advise about puppies not eating as much as they should and car training in order to achieve a non poop ride.

Forester's Guide leaving

Good morning.
I was giving my internet gateway and router a firmware upgrade yesterday which resulted in nothing working afterwards hence no blog yesterday. Today the remaining puppies slept to about 5 pm. At that time they want to go out and play and who can blaim them? There is daylight and no blazing sun, perfect. This is also a good time to sort out computers. With a nice cup of tea.

Forester's Guide is going to her new home today. She is going to a very nice family in Berkshire with lot's of dog experience.

So it's going to be quiet her now when all but one puppies are gone. I have had reports from Bristol. Senor Gigolo is sleeping deeply on the stone floor under the kitchen table although there is a really cosy bed available for him. Farmer's Girl is settling in well in the New Forest. The owner thought she would eat more.
I think it's been the same change here. When we had all of the puppies they attacked the food and it was gone in less than a minute. Now when I give them food there is no rush at all and sometimes they don't eat it all. I spoke to the vet about it. She said it could be the heat and as long as they are pooing allright there should be no worries.
By the way, the puppy owners who would be interested in communicating with the other puppy owners to exchange experiences please send me an email so that I can put you in touch with each other.

Two puppies sitting nicely

Hello everybody.
This morning at 4.50 when I was making a cup of tea in order to come back to the living before going to work I noticed that it was unusually quiet in the puppy sleeping quarter. I thought they were either gone or fast asleep. I peeped around the corner and there were two puppies wide awake sitting nicely looking at me kindly. I was very surprised I must admit. I let them out and gave them some food. A really good start of the day I thought.

Bosun's Lady chewing a new stick from the Lymington market.

Forester's Guide turning on a penny.

Forester's Guide again. I am proud of being able to write which puppy is actually on the pictures now that we have only one black and one brown.

Hillevi is being given a cuddle by Forester's Guide.

Hillevi and Bosun's Lady.
The children have given the dogs a bath today as it was so hot. They are after all water dogs. They quite liked it so maybe that will be repeated tomorrow.
I am doing an early Malaga tomorrow and then looking forward to a few days off.

Only two left

Good evening.
Very empty here now. We have only three girls left now including Flexi. I think she is a little concerned about the puppies disappearing. She has been sniffing around in strange places this afternoon. Maybe she is looking for the estranged puppies.
This is from dusk last night when what was left of the family then rested peacefully on the lawn. They almost look like lions.

This is the last of the two boys. He left for Bristol this afternoon. His new owner has a very enthusiastic family waiting for him. He's going to love Bristol I'm sure.

This cuddly toy has suffered it's last tug of war. It's gone west.
Got to go now. I have to make some pizzas and then go to bed early for a Faro tomorrow.

Last man standing

Good evening everybody.

And what an evening! It's like being overseas. I have got to water my plants tonight.

The puppies had a quiet night. They stirred a little when I got up this morning but I think they got back to sleep for a while after I left at 4.30 am.

It's going to be all girls tomorrow night when this gentleman has left for Bristol. It's going to be difficult for them in the beginning when there is no man telling them what to do.

Flexi is trying to get the puppies to play with her. Today it was a little bit too hot though.

Forester's Guide and Bosun's Lady in a tug of war.
Bosun's Lady will be going to Sweden with us later this month. The children want to call her Scout and Ulrika wants to call her Dorrit after Little Dorrit. That's three against one.
The shade under this shrub has been a favourite the last couple of days.
Tomorrow is prom night for some of the New Forest Schools so I hope the weather stays like this.

A perfect day

Hello everybody.
People who are born here sometimes complain about the weather. I can tell you that compared to Sweden in November you are pretty fortunate.
Flexi was a bit unsettled yesterday I thought. Maybe she has realised that the numbers don't add up anymore. Today she is back to her usual self though.
I have had a report from Cotton Angel. She has been at the beach near Brighton happily playing in the puddles with her new friends. She has several Water Dog puppies in her new family.
As you know Forest Ranger is now at his new home in Berkshire. I have had a report today and he is settling in very well. This the remaining boy who had his first vaccination today. He is big just like his brother and weighs an impressive 5.8 kg. He was very brave when he had his jab and didn't flinch.

Back in the garden after the visit to the vet.

Sensible dogs chill out in the shade on days like these.

Forester's Guide sitting nicely.
So it's pretty slow here with only three puppies to look after. Last night they slept from 11 pm to 6 am. I am going to work four days now so they will wake up when I leave at 4 am but maybe they will go back to sleep after I leave. We will see.
Cheers, Per

Tuesday 23 June 2009

From four to three

Good evening.
It's been a nice warm day today. Maybe a little bit too warm for the dogs. They have been sleeping in the shade most of the day. Particularly around lunch when Forest Ranger was leaving there wasn't much going on. I have a short video to show you. It's from early this morning.

Monday and only four puppies left.

Hello everybody.
There are not that many puppies to take pictures of anymore. Yesterday Cotton Angel left for Brighton. We have had reports from Farmer's Girl in the New Forest. She is settling in nicely. Also Coxswain's Scout seems to be settling in on the Isle of Wight. I've seen lovely pictures of the cot where she sleeps hopefully all night.
It's a very hot day so the puppies have been slepping under the BBQ until lunch.
Now at 2.30 they are up and about so I'll give them some lunch.
Flexi is staying indoors mostly because of the temperature.

They need to keep their tongues out to cool

The favourite cuddly toy is the skunk. Very durable. Neither Flexi nor numerous tugs of war has managed to shred it.

Looking out for food.

All the brown ones together in the shade.
Tomorrow we are having one of the two boys going to Berkshire before lunch so then we are down to three puppies left. Flexi should start noticing that something is going on by tomorrow. She doesn't seem to be distressed in any way so far.
That's it for now.
Cheers, Per

And then they were only five

Good evening everybody.

This morning we did some boatspotting at Hurst Castle since it was the Round the Island race. We discovered a Swedish boat called Pleomax.

Farmer's Girl has left our house today. Her new home is only a few miles down the road in the New Forest so we hope to see her again before we go to Sweden.

The remaining puppies were exhausted after all the brouhaha with Farmer's Girl leaving

Total relaxation.

This pillow doesn't look comfortable though.

Tomorrow we have another two puppies leaving. They will be moving to Guildford in the home counties.

Flexi has not shown any signs of missing her puppies yet.

Until tomorrow.

Cheers, Per

A Farewell to Puppy

Hello everybody.
So that's it. Coxswain's Scout has moved to the Isle of Wight. Here's a little film from today.

The beginning of the end

Hello everybody.

Not many days left for the puppies on this address. I have been in Wales working a couple of days. I managed to time both entry and exit to Wales so that I got stuck in traffic together with tens of thousands of women visiting Cardiff to watch Take That in concert.

Today the puppies have been playing for longer periods of time and sleeping less. They can run really fast now.

Flexi is trying to get them going so she has somebody to play with.

The first one is leaving tomorrow. How Flexi is going to react remains to be seen.

Cheers, Per

Blog break.

Hello.
The blog is taking a three day break since I have got to work. People want to go on holiday so I got to be there for them. The blog will resume on Thursday with hot news.

Puppy allocation day.

Hello everybody.

The first part of the long awaited puppy allocation is now complete.

This is Senor Gigolo who is moving to Guildford next week.

This is Forest Ranger who is moving to Berkshire.

This is Farmer's Girl who will be staying in Hampshire.

This is Bosun's Lady who will be going with us to Sweden.

This is Forester's Guide who will be going to the Isle of Wight or Bristol.

This is Coxswain's Scout who will be going to the Isle of Wight or Bristol.

This is Cotton Angel who will be going to Guildford.

The dogs have been vet checked today. They are all healthy.

We were also advised not to chip the dogs at this early stage. Flexi was chip marked too early. To find her chip is very difficult since it has wandered down her right shoulder some five inches.

So the advice is when you have collected your puppy to bring it to your local vet and have it health checked and get advice regarding jabs and wait with the chip marking until the vet thinks it's sensible.

Cheers, Per

Special morning edition.

Good morning.

We are anticipating the arrival of Terri et al. in less than an hour. It's a lovely morning and the puppies have been chewing away on their sticks all morning. They are blissfully unaware of the important decisions to be made today. Who is going to stay in Hampshire? Who is going to Surrey? Is anyone going to Wales even?

Jaw exercise.

When the sun is too strong the puppies hide from it under the BBQ cover.

Exodus from the fallout shelter.

On special request our coveted Black Mulberry tree.

There will be a special news bulletin later today with the latest puppy allocation news.

Cheers, Per
